LHU Women’s Cross Country picked fifth in PSAC Poll
LOCK HAVEN – Today (Thursday, August 23), the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced the women’s cross country preseason coaches’ poll and the Lock Haven University women’s cross country team was picked fifth out of 17 conference teams.
Edinboro received 12 of 17 first-place votes and was tabbed as the preseason-favorite. Shippensburg was picked second, Kutztown third and West Chester sits at No. 4, just one spot ahead of the Bald Eagles.
Last season, LHU finished eighth at the PSAC Championships before rebounding to take sixth at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championships. In both championship meets, Lock Haven was led by a pair of rookies in Cadie Kiser and Laurel Moyer. Kiser and Moyer both ran to All-Region and All-Conference finishes last season. The two rising sophomores, along with redshirt-sophomore Amanda Shultz, will lead the way for The Haven on the course this year.
Back in 2016 as a true-freshman, Shultz was an All-Region and All-Conference performer.
LHU will open the 2018 season in traditional fashion as the Bald Eagles host the Dolan Duals on Friday, August 31. Now in its 12th season, Dolan Duals is a dual-meet vs. NCAA Division I power Penn State. The LHU Open/Invitational is scheduled for Saturday, September 22 as the Bald Eagles will open the season with two straight home meets.
