PSAC Preseason Football Coaches Poll announced

LOCK HAVEN – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) has announced its 2018 Preseason Coaches’ Poll and the Lock Haven University football team was picked to finish seventh in the PSAC Eastern Division.

West Chester received six of seven first-place votes and was tabbed by the coaches as the Eastern Division favorite. Shippensburg was picked second and Kutztown rounded out the top three in the east. Bloomsburg was picked fourth, East Stroudsburg fifth and Millersville sixth.

In the Western Division, IUP was picked as the favorite.

Last season, LHU was 2-9 overall with both wins coming in PSAC East play as Lock Haven downed Cheyney and local-rival Bloomsburg. Over the last two seasons, LHU has recorded six PSAC East wins after going 4-3 in Eastern Division play in 2016.

The Bald Eagles report to preseason camp on Monday (Aug. 6) and will get right to work in preparation for the 2018 campaign.

A second straight season-opener at a Division I opponent, five home games and a trip to Texas to take on the defending NCAA Division II national champions await LHU this fall.

Lock Haven will open the 2018 season on the road at NCAA Division I FCS Duquesne at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 1. The Dukes were 7-4 last season. During the 2018 season, the Bald Eagles will host Clarion, IUP, Millersville, Bloomsburg and Shippensburg. LHU’s home-opener is set for Saturday, September 8. All five of Lock Haven’s home games will start at 12 p.m. including the Homecoming game on October 20.
