Lock Haven’s Alyscia Smith named the A-10 POTW
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Alyscia Smith (Newport, Pa./Newport) of the Lock Haven University field hockey team has been named this week’s Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) Co-Player of the Week.
It marks the second straight week where a Lock Haven player has been named the conference’s player of the week.
Smith, who scored a hat trick Sunday, shares this week’s player of the week award with Hannah Rutherford of Saint Francis. Tonya Botherway of Saint Joseph’s was named the Rookie of the Week.
Smith, a senior-midfielder, led Lock Haven to a 6-1 win on Sunday (Sept. 8) vs. Colgate. She recorded a natural hat trick of sorts as she scored the first three goals of the game on the way to a lopsided win that helped the Bald Eagles remain perfect at home this season (3-0).
The win also marked win No. 597 for LHU head coach Pat Rudy as she marches toward her 600th career win.
