THE NEXT LEVEL: Riley Green clocks career-best, Erin Reese nearly breaks school record
Riley Green: Riley is a 2016 graduate of Central Mountain High School and is a member of the Men’s Cross Country team at Earlham College in Indiana where he is a junior majoring in Outdoor Education. He also serves as the captain of both the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams. At the Quaker Bowl home meet on August 31, Earlham College won 26-31 against Wilmington (OH), and Riley finished in 6th place for his team with a 5K time of 17:34, a personal best.
Erin Reese: Erin is a 2016 graduate of Central Mountain High School and is a member of the Women’s Cross Country team at Susquehanna University where she is a junior majoring in neuroscience. Over the weekend, Reese nearly broke the school record for a 5k race and finished in third place overall for the River Hawks. Reese clocked a 19:08.48 and was just four seconds off the school record of 19:04.89 set in 2005. The third place finish was the top Landmark Conference finish in the race as well.
The Next Level is a weekly piece to report on and highlight the progress and accomplishments of student-athletes from local high schools who are currently participating in a sport(s) at the collegiate level. Jay Smith: Jay is a 2016 graduate of Bellefonte High School and is a member of the Men’s Soccer team at Brighton College in Arizona where he majors in Library Science. Last week, Jay scored two goals and had three assists in two contests. For the season, he has scored six goals while also recording nine assists from his center mid position. Brighton is now 7-2 on the season.
