Lock Haven Women’s Soccer downed by host West Chester

WEST CHESTER — The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (8-3-1, 8-3-1 PSAC) was downed 2-0 on the road today at West Chester University (9-3-1, 9-3-1 PSAC) in a key Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and Atlantic Region clash.

The loss snapped Lock Haven’s five-game win streak, the team’s longest win-streak since 2004, and it marked LHU’s first loss since September 12 at Bloomsburg. The Bald Eagles were unbeaten in their previous seven matches.

Kendall Rich put West Chester up 1-0 in the 34th minute and Linzi Wolfe made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute. The Golden Rams held a 13-6 advantage in shots and a 6-3 advantage in corners.

Marah Foltz (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) led Lock Haven and registered four of the Bald Eagles’ six shots. She had two shots on goal and Ella Jones (Mohnton, Pa./Reading Area C.C.) turned in another solid effort in midfield for LHU.

LHU goalkeeper Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) kept the Bald Eagles in the match and finished with eight saves.
