LHU’s Marah Foltz named Atlantic Region Player of the Year
FROM STAFF REPORTS
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior Marah Foltz (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) of the Lock Haven University women’s soccer team headlined the 2018 D2CCA First Team All-Atlantic Region and was named Atlantic Region Player of the Year.
Foltz brought home the hardware this year and added to her growing trophy haul. She had already earned first team All-Conference and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Player of the Year.
In Lock Haven women’s soccer history, Foltz becomes the first athlete to ever win the D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year. She was the first LHU women’s soccer player to be named PSAC Player of the Year since Brooke Rangie in 2002 and it was just the third time since 1994 a Lock Haven player was named Player of the Year by the league.
Foltz’s 17 goals tied for the most ever in a single-season at Lock Haven. Her five game-winning goals tied for third most in the PSAC during the regular season. Her season total for points was 39, which was second best in the PSAC.
A playmaking forward, she added a team best five assists with her clever passes in the final third. A dynamic threat with her feet, she continually beat defenders off the dribble and also possesses a powerful long range shot as well as being a clinical-close finisher.
