LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior Marah Foltz (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) of the Lock Haven University women’s soccer team headlined the 2018 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Team. Foltz was named the Player of the Year and was one of four LHU players who earned All-PSAC honors.

Senior-defender Jordan Shoff (York, Pa./York Suburban) earned a spot on the Second Team while junior-forward Haleigh Swam (Westminster, Md./James Buchanan) and senior-midfielder Ella Jones (Mohnton, Pa./Reading Area C.C.) nab places on the Third Team.

The four All-Conference student-athletes mark the most in a single season for Lock Haven since the Bald Eagles crowned five All-Conference players in 2007.

Foltz’s 17 goals during the regular season marked the most of any player in the PSAC. She’s the first LHU women’s soccer player to be named PSAC Player of the Year since Brooke Rangie in 2002 and it’s just the third time since 1994 a Lock Haven player was named Player of the Year by the league.

Foltz’s 17 goals are tied for the most ever in a single-season at Lock Haven. Her five game-winning goals are tied for the third most in the PSAC during the regular season. Foltz, a playmaking forward, added five assists with her clever passes in the final third to add to her incredible season. A dynamic threat with her feet, she continually beat defenders off the dribble and has the ability to power shots past keepers from long range as well as being a clinical-close finisher.

A two-time All-Conference player, Shoff is the heart and soul of a stingy Lock Haven defense which allowed only 16 goals, which was sixth in the PSAC, and completed five clean sheets. A fearless center-back, Shoff possesses both the athletic and mental attributes a top defender must show. Consistently reading the attack and making powerful clearances, Shoff is a second team All-Conference honoree for the second straight year. Her calming presence in defense solidifies the back four with goal-saving tackling and technical ability on the ball to keep possession for Lock Haven.

Swam capped the best season of her career for Lock Haven, racking up nine goals and an assist. Her nine goals were good enough for seventh place in the PSAC and her 19 points placed her ninth in the conference. Swam also finished with four game-winning goals to tie her for seventh place in the conference. Swam is a blazing fast forward who makes dangerous runs behind the defense and relies on deft finishing around the net. She was a continuous threat to the opposing backline and was crucial to the LHU attack with her pressure and movements off the ball.

Jones is the picture of consistency in the midfield for Lock Haven. Her work rate and interceptions change the field for LHU. Jones dominates possession for the Bald Eagles, making crucial tackles to win back possession and jumpstart the attack with precise passing. Her position deep in the holding midfield allows her to pull the strings for The Haven and her technical passing and footwork compiled three assists. The maestro in the midfield, Jones has been critical to both the defense and attack for the Bald Eagles.

Tuesday, Lock Haven was edged, 2-0, in PSAC Quarterfinal action at West Chester. It marked LHU’s first playoff appearance in 12 years. The 11 wins on the season marked the most for the Bald Eagles since 2004.
