LHU Women’s Basketball jumps to No. 9 in Atlantic

LOCK HAVEN — The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team has jumped to No. 9 in the weekly Atlantic Region rankings.

Last week, the Bald Eagles entered the regional rankings at No. 10. It was believed to be the first time Lock Haven was regionally ranked since the 1990-91 season. LHU checks in at No. 9 this week in today’s D2SIDA Atlantic Region poll.

Lock Haven is 7-1 overall (3-0 PSAC, 0-0 PSAC East) and the Bald Eagles have won six straight games.

The six-game win streak marks Lock Haven’s longest since a seven-game win streak during the 2005-06 season. The next longest win streak was nine straight wins during the 1989-90 season after Lock Haven opened the season 9-0. The 7-1 start to this season therefore marks the best start to a season since the aforementioned 9-0 start back in 1989-90.

The Bald Eagles are set for a pair of back-to-back Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) games. The first comes tomorrow (Tuesday, December 18) at Slippery Rock (5:30 p.m.), before LHU takes on Edinboro on the road Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m.
