Bellefonte Hoops: Raiders get electric-road win against Central

FROM STAFF REPORTS

Back on Dec. 18 the Central Dragons traveled to Bellefonte and handed the Red Raiders a 3-point loss, so it was only fitting the Raiders would hand the Dragons a defeat in similar fashion.

In back-and-forth action the Bellefonte boys basketball team (13-7) dropped the Central Dragons (16-5) in another three-point game, 55-52.

“This was an outstanding win in a tough environment,” Bellefonte coach Kris Glunt said after the win. “We shot the ball really well. I’m really proud of the effort and I’m proud of all the guys coming together and taking care of business in a real tough environment.”

Bellefonte shot the ball lights-out and converted as many three pointers (10) as it did field goals from inside the arc.

Nate Tice led the Raiders with a team-high 20 points. Noah Badger chipped in 14 and Ben McCartney added another 11.

“We made some key buckets down the stretch,” Glunt said. “Nate Tice performed really well, and Ben McCartney shot the ball well. It was just a total-team effort.”

Also recording figures for Bellefonte were Bailey Decker and Isaiah Nadolsky with three points each, and Caleb Rockey and Nick Fisher with two points apiece.

“Isiah Nadolsky gave us great minutes off the bench and rebounded well for us,” Glunt said. “It was a real team effort.”

Bellefonte (13-7) closes the season tonight with a home contest versus St. Marys. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

“We have a tough game ahead of us for [Friday],” Glunt said. “St Marys plays hard, they’re well coached and they’re scrappy. We have our work cut out for us.”
