LHU Field Hockey earns National Academic Team Award

GILBERT, Ariz. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team has earned a 2018 ZAG Field Hockey / National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Team Award.

The Division I National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year.

The 2018 season proved to be successful both on and off the field.

LHU’s win in the 2018 season-finale vs. La Salle helped Lock Haven finish the season at .500, thanks to a 9-9 overall record. The Bald Eagles were 3-5 in A-10 action, thanks to wins over Davidson, Saint Louis and La Salle. All three conference wins came by way of a shutout and LHU outscored their conference foes 9-0 in those three games.

Highlighting the season was LHU head coach Pat Rudy and her historic march toward 600 wins. She got that magical 600th win on October 5 at Davidson and finished the season with 602 career coaching victories.
