Jersey Shore GSV 8-10 All Stars earn District 12 title
JERSEY SHORE – The Jersey Shore GSV 8-10 All Stars are making history for their team.
Recently the group of young men earned the District 12 title after a well fought game against South Williamsport on Sunday, July 7. The boys walked away from that game with a 6-2 win and the championship title. The first win the GSV team has seen for almost 10 years.
“For us to get to districts is a huge feat,” Jersey Shore GSV President Chryssie Miller said.
Now the team is moving on up to sectionals.
Head Coach Harry Kelley is proud of the hard work the group has put into their games.
“We’ve put a lot of work in. The kids have developed good teamwork whether it’s on the field or hanging out at one of the parent’s homes,” he said.
Every player is new to the 8-10 team and has shown hard work and dedication to the sport, he said.
“We’ve got a good fighting team that puts in a lot of work,” he said.
All of the youngsters spent Wednesday night showing off their skills during a meet and greet at the baseball field in Jersey Shore Recreation Park.
Even during a practice, the boys showed determination and teamwork as they worked together to catch fly balls and grounders the coaches sent their way.
When Coach Kelley asked the boys what their goal is during the sectionals they all shouted back, “we play to win the game!”
“Even if we don’t have any wins what do we do,” Kelley asked.
“We play to win the game,” they all responded in unison.
Jersey Shore GSV will face off against a team that will be determined at 7:30 p.m. in Tremont, Pa. on Tuesday, July 16.
