Penns Valley: Boys soccer defeats Central

The Penns Valley boys soccer team defeated Central Tuesday night, 6-3.

Zach Heckman and Caleb Narber each notched a pair of goals, while Seth Hall and Aidan Culver added additional scores.

“We got off to a slow start as my guys are still getting used to some new tactics and strategies with a new coach,” Penns Valley coach Ken Gore said. “After getting past the early-game jitters, we did better but really didn’t hit our stride until the final minute of the first half when Zach finished the equalizer. That goal gave us the momentum we needed going into the second half, along with an intense half time talk, and we really tightened up the defense and midfield and kept a lot of pressure on the attack for most of the second half. It paid off well as we won the second half, 4-1, and tallied our first conference win for the 2019 season.

Penns valley out-shot Central, 17-11. Goalkeeper Dristen Wolfe recorded 8 saves.

Penns Valley (2-1) returns today with an away conference matchup against Bellefonte. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
