LHU Women’s XC: Haven solid as regular season winds down
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – In the final race before the postseason, the regionally-ranked Lock Haven women’s cross country team took the course Saturday at the 31st annual Gettysburg Invitational, and finished eighth overall in the team standings.
Leading the way twas Ellie Nesbitt (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) and Bryn Trout (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion), who marked LHU’s top two finishers.
The duo of Nesbitt and Trout led a tightly formed Bald Eagle pack, as Saturday’s race served as an advanced training measure for next week’s conference championship meet, where Lock Haven and the strong Bald Eagle core will be in search of big things.
After yesterday, the Bald Eagles turn their attention to the postseason and will return to action on Friday, October 25 at the 2019 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.
Yesterday, Nesbitt covered the 6,000-meter course in 25:45.0 (71st overall out of 250+; scored 52nd) and Trout ran 25:45.1. Following Nesbitt and Trout was Rachel Grow (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run), Karlee Noel (Altoona, Pa./Altoona), Morgan Perry (Quarryville, Pa./Solanco), Cadie Kiser (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) and Laurel Moyer (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain).
This week (Oct. 15), the LHU women were ranked No. 5 in the latest NCAA Division II Atlantic Region poll. Last season, Lock Haven placed fifth at the PSAC Championships.
Next Friday’s (Oct. 25) PSAC Championship meet will be hosted by Bloomsburg University.
