Four local Centre County athletes named to All-State football team

Bellefonte’s CJ Funk, Bald Eagle Area’s Gage McClenahan and Penns Valley’s Aaron Tobias and Logan Snyder were recently named to the Pennsylvania Writers’ All State Football Team.

Bellefonte’s CJ Funk was named to the AAAA All-State Football Team. Funk ended his football career with a tremendous senior season, totaling a team-high 1,488 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. Funk was a two-way starter, who anchored the defense as a linebacker and led Bellefonte to a 9-3 record this season with a 35-21 victory over Clearfield in the AAAA District 6 Championship.

Funk is Bellefonte’s all-time rushing leader and will play baseball at the University of Pittsburgh after graduating.

Penns Valley’s Aaron Tobias was selected to the AA All-State Football team after a record-setting senior season. Tobias threw for a Penns Valley record 54 touchdowns this season and finished with 3,534 passing yards. Tobias led the Rams to a 10-2 record and a spot in the District Championship.

Tobias’ top target, Logan Snyder, was named to the All State Football Team as a tight end. Snyder recorded 72 receptions, 1,080 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

BEA’s Gage McClenahan was named to the AA All-State Football Team as a defensive back. The versatile senior was a two-way starter who racked up 90 tackles, four interceptions and 20 pass deflections on defense.

McClenahan racked up another 1,182 all purpose yards and eight touchdowns on offense.
