LHU: Bald Eagle swimming caps PSAC Championships
YORK, Pa. – The Lock Haven University swimming team completed the final day of action at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Swimming Championships on Saturday afternoon.
The four-day long championships concluded at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa where the Bald Eagles got the morning session rolling taking part in the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle and the 1650-yard freestyle.
In the morning prelims, Mikaela Clemson (Albury, Australia/Albury) was first in the pool for Lock Haven where she improved on her season best time by over a second in the 100-yard freestyle. She swam the race in 55.45 marking her best performance of the year. Sol Asparria (Lima, Peru/Saint Mark’s College) swam in the same race finishing in 58.43.
Kristin Allen (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) finished 13th in the 200-yard backstroke besting her season best by time by four seconds. Allen took home a time of 2:10.58 to earn her best performance of the year.
Lauren Mummert (York, Pa./Northeastern) rounded out the morning session with a time of 19:02.65 in the1650-yard freestyle.
In the evening session, Allen placed 14th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.42.
The Haven relay team was also in action in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Allen, Clemson, Asparria and Kristen Pugh (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) combined to slice 12 seconds off their qualifying time to turn in a 3:45.08.
