Local Auto Racing Round Up

It was another great weekend for racing at the local dirt tracks. Neither the chilly temperatures or the threat of Coronavirus could stop Lance Dewease at Port or Alan Krimes at Lincoln or the opening day at Williams Grove where an Outlaw invader, Carson Macedo took home the checkers from the Historic Oval.
Lance Dewease started on the pole, but still passed 14 cars to claim the checkers as he almost lapped the entire field and beat Logan Wagner for the victory by a whopping 7.584 second margin during 25 laps of caution free action. Anthony Macri picked up the $200 Hard Charger award this week courtesy of Valley Supply Inc. as he passed seven cars to advance to 14th from the 21st starting spot.
You’d have thought the Port Royal Speedway was in Delaware as Donnie Lingo Jr. and Ross Robinson, both natives of ‘The Diamond State’, battled it out in River Valley Builders Super Late Model competition looking for their first career victories at the Speedway.
Ultimately, Lingo fended off multiple attempts by Robinson and slight contact to pick up his first career victory at the Speedway and the $2500 prize that comes with it.
Meanwhile down at Lincoln Speedway, it seemed that the lead was not a position one wanted to be in as two leaders experienced issues that took them out of the top spot during the first 20 laps of the race. Alan Krimes broke the mold and inherited the lead with five laps remaining and held on to win his first race of the season.
In the Central PA Legends feature Joe Ryan Osborne pulled away from the field on the restart and got the checkered flag by 1.275 seconds over his competition. Back to that opening day race at Williams Grove where Macedo said “This is without a doubt one of the biggest wins of my career, I never thought it would happen.” Macedo and his team drove from Texas to get to Williams Grove in time for Sunday’s opening day event. The Grove returns to action this Friday with its first night program of the 2020 season, with racing at 7:30 pm.
Depending on the state of the coronavirus Clinton County Motor Speedway is planning a work day on Saturday for anybody with some skill to make repair on the bleachers in the grandstands (please bring cordless drills, and impact wrenches). Also needed are a few people with weed-eaters to help clean up the track!!
See you at the Races!!
