LHU volleyball announces 2020 class
LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven University volleyball team has announced its 2020 recruiting class and the Bald Eagles, led by coach Eric Buggs, will welcome three new additions to the program.
Those incoming players will be Souadou Bangoura, Keelin Baker and Bald Eagle High School’s Grace Hugar.
“I am beyond excited about our 2020 incoming class,” said Buggs. “As I’ve had the opportunity to get to know them over the past few months, it has become evident that each player has experiences that will continue to enhance the Lock Haven volleyball program both on and off the court.”
Hugar is an outside hitter from Clarence, Pa. She’s a three-time all-state selection, three-time all-district all-star and two-time Mountain League Most Valuable Player. Hugar won three district championships and was a state champion in 2018.
“Grace comes to Lock Haven after a standout career at Bald Eagle High School, where she led her team through a fantastic postseason run that resulted in a state championship,” Buggs said. “Her poise, confidence, and leadership shone during the recruiting process, and I know she will be a consistent force both offensively and defensively for us. She brings plenty of experiences that will help continue to build our program here at Lock Haven.”
Bangoura is an outside/right side hitter from Evanston, Ill. She led Lincoln Trail College last year with 258 kills, kills per set (2.35) and attacks (707).
“Souadou brings a lot of experience having played at the junior college level. She knows what it takes to compete at the collegiate level and be successful. She brings a wealth of volleyball IQ that stood out in the recruiting process and will immediately impact our program,” Buggs said. “Having played against high level opponents since high school, both in her home state of Illinois and nationally, she knows how to win. I know she will be ready to compete day one and cannot wait to see the impact she makes on our program.”
Baker is also an outside/right side hitter from Vesta, N.Y. She was a 2017 and 2018 IREVA High Performance team member and a member of the 2019 A1 Junior National team.
