Mill Hall Magic falls in Independent Summer League semifinals
The Mill Hall Magic had its season end in the semifinals of the Independent Summer League, getting upset by a talented Loyalsock team, 9-6. Mill Hall was the second seed in the tournament. Loyalsock overcame a 4-0 third-inning deficit.
Joeb Schurer threw 3 2/3 brilliant innings of scoreless relief, Matt Worth and Nick Laubach homered, Chase Cavanaugh delivered three hits. Worth ignited a six-run, fourth-inning rally with a lead-off home run and Laubach capped it with a two-run home run.
“Mill Hall has some great players. They have a bunch of kids that graduated that are going places and kids who know how to play the game but our kids came out and got punched in the mouth early and fought back,” Loyalsock coach Zac Martin said. “I have full trust in our offense and our defense. It stinks to lose (the final to Hughesville), but I was encouraged. I told the guys after the game I think our program took five steps forward this summer.”
Mill Hall scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning, but Loyalsock’s six-run outburst in the top of the fourth proved to be too much to rally from.
Mill Hall was led by Kaden Falls, who went 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Chase Brush scored twice and was walked two times and Rocco Stark went 1 for 3 with a home run.
