Montoursville uses goals from 4 players to beat Wildcats
MILL HALL — Four players scored for Montoursville as the Warriors blanked Central Mountain, 4-0, on Tuesday to remain unbeaten on the road.
The loss marked Central Mountain’s second in a row after earning its first win of the season last week against Jersey Shore.
Montoursville controlled the pace of the match throughout the night, outshooting the Wildcats, 12-1.
Central Mountain coach Jeff Brinker knew Montoursville would pose a challenge for his team.
“We knew coming in what they were returning was going to be tough,” Brinker said. “I was pleased the first two minutes (of the second half) we made some adjustments.”
The Warriors scored 12 minutes into the match when Madison Moll found the back of the net off a corner.
Montoursville scored its second goal of the match shortly after at the 20:14 mark of the opening half when Alexa Ulmer knocked one in for the Warriors. Montoursville held a 2-0 lead over Central Mountain at halftime.
Central Mountain’s offense struggled to enter Montoursville’s side of the field for the majority of the first half. The Wildcats managed to earn decent looks at goals to open the second as the offense displayed efficient passing to begin the final half.
Nothing came of the solid shot opportunities the Wildcats were presented with. Montoursville jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the 55-minute mark when Mackenzie Cohick scored for the Warriors, and it was a goal which blocked any sort of potential Central Mountain comeback.
Montoursville added an insurance goal in the final minutes of the match. Natalie Bennett scored in the 76th minute to give the Warriors their fourth and final goal of the night.
The Warriors victory marked Montoursville’s fifth consecutive against Central Mountain.
