Local roundup: CM grad Laurel Moyer helps Lock Haven cross country win

For the second consecutive weekend, Bald Eagle standouts Laurel Moyer and Cadie Kiser finished 1-2 individually in a meet, and again, the front-running duo helped power the Lock Haven University women’s cross country team to victory.

Moyer is a Central Mountain graduate.

Moyer and Kiser were two of six total Bald Eagles who finished among the top-10 as LHU topped Bloomsburg University, 18-41, in dual action.

Working together at the front, Moyer and Kiser finished the 4K course in 15:58.00 and 15:59.00, respectively.

The Lock Haven University men’s cross country team swept the top four individual finishes as the Bald Eagles front-running pack led LHU to a dominating 16-45 dual-meet victory over host Bloomsburg.

Aaron Pfeil, John Davern and Zack Skrabski took total control and the trio crossed the finish line together. Pfeil was credited with the win as Davern and Skrabski finished second and third, respectively in the individual standings.

Tanner Walter, a Milton graduate, was fourth overall and capped the Bald Eagles 1-2-3-4 sweep after covering the 4K course in a time of 13:30.00.

The Penn State women’s basketball team couldn’t slow down the nation’s top scoring offense in an 88-61 loss at No. 8 Maryland in the regular-season finale.

Penn State will now turn its attention to postseason play with next week’s Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis. The Lady Lions will receive a first-round bye and be the No. 10 seed in the tournament.

Senior Niya Beverley led Penn State with 15 points at Maryland, marking her seventh double-digit effort in the last eight games. Sophomore Makenna Marisa followed with 10 points.
