Local roundup: Central Mountain tennis suffers first loss, falling to Selinsgrove, 3-2
Central Mountain suffered its first loss of the season in boys tennis as the Wildcats fell in a close contest to Selinsgrove, 3-2. David Lindsay won at No. 1 singles for Central Mountain, 6-0, 6-0, and Ethan Hall won at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Selinsgrove swept the doubles competition and the Seals’ Eli markle won, 6-0, 6-4, against Central Mountain’s Nate Brinker at No. 3
• Shortstop Riley McClellan of the Lock Haven University softball team was named PSAC Eastern Division Softball Athlete of the Week.
In last week’s four-game span, LHU was 2-2 and swept Millersville on the road, thanks in large part to the bat of McClellan.
Batting leadoff for Lock Haven, she hit .643 over four PSAC East games last week. McClellan was 9 for 14 with eight runs scored, four RBIs, two home runs and three stolen bases.
Bellefonte grad Tara Baney picked up a win in the circle for Bloomsburg University in the first game against East Stroudsburg of a doubleheader as the Huskies won, 3-2. Bloomsburg lost the second game, 4-3.
Baney, 3-8, threw all seven innings and struck out five.
