Local roundup: Shore softball erupts for 26 runs in win
Jersey Shore erupted for 23 hits, erased a three-run fifth-inning deficit and outslugged Mifflinburg, 26-17 in a game featuring 43 combined runs and 35 hits. The Bulldogs (4-2) scored eight times in the fifth inning, turning a three-run deficit into a 22-17 lead. They added four more runs in the sixth inning and Katelyn Stover (2 for 4, 2 doubles) threw two scoreless innings to secure the victory and season sweep. Rachel Lorson finished a home run shy of hitting for the cycle, going 4 for 6 with a triple and double. Emma Pfirman collected three hits as did Grace Russell who drove in four runs. Carolyn Wacker, Maddie Herman, Delaney Herbst, Grace Lorson and Rahel Hartman all had two hits and also helped Jersey Shore erase two early two-run deficits.
