Clinton’s major softball team claimed the District 12 championship by defeating Loyalsock, 7-1, on Sunday.

The win moves Clinton into the Section 3 tournament, which begins today at Roosevelt Trail Little League in Wyalusing Boro Park. Clinton will play District 15 champion Tunkhannock in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. Clinton will play either the winner or loser of Mifflinburg vs. Minersville on Wednesday.

Only four teams are in the sectional tournament.

• In the 9-11 baseball tournament, Keystone defeated Hepburn Lycoming, 11-0, Sunday to advance to the District 12 championship game on Wednesday at Keystone Long Run.

• Noah Kirby pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed just four hits with 11 strikeouts as Montoursville defeated Jersey Shore GSV, 7-1, in a major baseball tournament elimination game to advance. James Williams went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs.

Cy Heddings, Austin Davidson, Branson Fogleman, Jay Houseknecht, Issac Erlandson and Cole Weaver all had a hit. Elijah Eck was walked twice and scored two runs and Kirby was walked three times, scored twice and had an RBI.

Jersey Shore GSV was led by Carter Reinhart, Zeke Sechrist, Hayden Kelley, Nolan Pauling, Jake Bressler and Jake Rummines, who all had a hit. Kelley had Jersey Shore GSV’s only extra-base hit when he had a double and was walked twice.

Montoursville jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning before Jersey Shore scored a run to breakup the shutout in the bottom of the third, 3-1. Montoursville responded with a run in the fourth inning and then scored three in the top of the sixth.
