LHU’s Miller wins field hockey award

From staff reports

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Jasmine Miller of the Lock Haven University field hockey team has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for her two standout performances over the weekend.

The freshman Miller played a terrific game in the 3-0 win over A-10 opponent Richmond on Friday. She knocked home LHU’s second goal of the game off a penalty corner and later helped add a second insurance score by assisting teammate Alyssa Endrick. She created the breakaway chance and navigated the ball downfield before unselfishly dropping the ball off to her teammate for the score.

LHU’s midfielder was crucial yet again in Sunday’s win over non-conference foe Sacred Heart. Miller scored the game-winning goal on a tremendous solo effort. She picked up a loose ball, took it straight down Sacred Heart defense and sliced a ball around the goalkeeper for the first score of the game.
