Area has plenty receive all-state nods in softball

Bucktail had plenty of players represented on the Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association all-state team in Class A, which was released Friday.

Bucktail’s Makenzie Wagner was a first-team shortstop, and Jordan Burrows (catcher), Haley Burrows (second baseman) and Emma Poorman (utility) were all second-team selections at their respective positions.

Bald Eagle Area pitcher Sierra Albright was a first-team selection in Class AAA and teammate Ava Stere was a second-team first baseman.

In Class AAAA, Jersey Shore’s Isabelle Engel received second-team honors as a first baseman. The Bulldogs’ Grace Lorson (outfield) and Emma Pfirman (first baseman) was also a second-team selection as an outfielder.

Central Mountain’s Adalynn McKeague, who had a solid season in the circle, was a second-team all-state pitcher. She was one of three Wildcats to earn honors, joined by teammate Caitlyn Watson, a second-team shortstop, and Allison Lininger, a second-team utility player.
