Central Mountain’s boys swimming team won the team title at the Blue Jay Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Central Columbia, just beating out Athens. Williamsport took third and Lewisburg finished sixth. On the girls side, Central Mountain took second behind only Danville. Williamsport finished fourth and Lewisburg took fifth.

Camryn Bair, a two-event state qualifier last winter, picked up where she left off last year by winning the 100 fly by a second in 1:01.77 over Danville’s Izzy Marks. The Wildcats’ Abrianna Hosley won the 500 free by five seconds as she swam a 5:52.60, beating out Danville’s Zoe Czech (5:57.60).

“It was a total team effort”, stated Central Mountain coach Scott Bair. “All 14 swimmers earned points for the team today.”

Bair would win two events on Saturday as she also swam a 1:08.67 to take the 100 breast. Lewisburg’s Jillie Donner took second in 1:14.04 and Central Mountain’s Gabriella Hosley was a third-place finisher in 1:15.91.

In the girls 200 free relay, Williamsport and Central Mountain had a great race for second and third place. Central Mountain’s Gabriella Hosley, Abrianna Hosley, Anna Stahl and Camryn Bair swam a 1:50.84, just edging out Williamsport’s Kendall Cohick, Kendall Brouse, Kiley Persun and Aviya Halstead, who swama. 1:50.86. Cohick would win individually in the 100 back in 1:04.12, winning by roughly four seconds in the race as Jillian Muchler took third.

Central Mountain’s Anna Stahl, Kaylie McCloskey, Erin Packer and Lily McWilliams swam a 4:40.07 in the 40 free to take fifth.

Williamsport’s Brady Ross picked up a win in the 50 free in 23.65 on the boys side, edging out Athens Eli Hicks (24.11) and Keller Griswold won the 100 fly in 54.82, beating out Central Mountain standout Jonathan Hughes. Ross took third in the 500 free in 5:34.23, trailing only winner Colin Shannon of Lewisburg (5:17.15) and Central Columbia’s connor Morgan (5:21.98).

In the 400 free relay, Central Mountain’s Rhys Swift, Bryce Warren, Holden Long and Owen Wunder swam a 4:07.14 to take home a third-place finish.
