LHU women’s hoops finishes strong to down Rams on road
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V. – The Lock Haven women’s basketball team outscored Shepherd by 20 points in the final period to soar to a 74-54 PSAC East victory on the road on Wednesday night.
With the win, the Bald Eagles improve to 10-5 overall and 5-3 in the PSAC. The Haven has been impressive away from home this season and is now 5-2 on the road.
Alana Robinson led the Bald Eagles with a dominant all-around performance and finished with 21 points (7-of-10), five rebounds, three steals and a block.
Kiera Baughman shot a perfect 8-of-8 at the free-throw line on her way to 19 points. Rhlyn Rouse and Jenadia Jordan rounded out the Bald Eagles in double figures with 11 points each. And Madeline Evans pulled in a game-high eight rebounds.
Lock Haven jumped out to a 21-13 after the first. But Shepherd was able to hold the Bald Eagles to just seven in the second to carry a 30-28 lead into the break.
The Haven regrouped at halftime and came out on top, 17-15, in the third quarter to knot the game at 45-45 heading into the final ten minutes.
They’d saved their best for last, especially on the defensive end, where they held the Rams to 25-percent shooting and just nine points. The Bald Eagles outscored Shepherd 29-9 in crunch time on their way to a convincing 20-point victory.
From the line, the Haven knocked down 15-of-16 shots during the monster run and finished with a season-high 29 points at the charity stripe.
Lock Haven forced a game-high 19 turnovers, while holding the Rams to under 40 percent from the field.

The Bald Eagles remain on the road and will visit Mansfield on Saturday, facing off against the Mountaineers at 1 p.m. for a PSAC East affair.
