CLEVELAND — Avery Bassett of the Lock Haven men’s wrestling team has been named the Mid-American Conference Eastern Division Athlete of the Week.

Bassett, ranked No. 27 at 174 pounds, was a perfect 5-0 last week for the Bald Eagles.

He opened the week with a 12-1 major decision over Cleveland State’s Ronald Dimmerling. Bassett’s win helped Lock Haven top the Vikings, 28-14, in the MAC dual.

On Sunday, Bassett went 4-0 and was one of three Bald Eagle champions as Lock Haven hosted the Mat-Town Open II Tournament. His four wins included a tech fall and two major decisions. On the season, six different Lock Haven wrestlers have accounted for eight total MAC Eastern Division Wrestler of the Week awards.
