Local roundup: Penns Valley boys, girls both secure wins

In girls basketball, Penns Valley defeated Central, 56-50. Ellie Romig led the way for the Rams with 18 points and Elle Dinges added 11.

Additionally, Paige Johnson scored nine points as the Rams are now 12-7.

Penns Valley’s boys basketball team held off Juniata, 68-56. The Rams had four players reach double digits in scoring in Spencer Althouse (17 points), Carter Ironside (14), Noah Patel 913) and Fletcher Ironside (13).

The win moves Penns Valley to 11-8.

Penns Valley started the game strong, jumping out to an 18-2 lead and putting Central into a hole it couldn’t quite claw out of. Central was led by Dessa Boyles’ 13 points and Maddie Benton’s 10. No one else broke double digits for Central.

Penns Valley’s boys basketball team heads to Central for a 7:30 p.m. game on Wednesday.
