Central Mountain baseball defeats DuBois 10-4
Central Mountain’s baseball team secured a 10-4 win against DuBois on Monday. The Wildcats opened the scoring in the first after Watt Probst tripled, scoring one run.
DuBois took the lead in the bottom of the first thanks to a Trey Wingard home run to right field. The shot by Wingard made it a 2-1 game.
Central Mountain reclaimed the lead in the top of the second after Brady Lavelle singled, scoring two runs, 3-2. Central Mountain then added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Malaky Moyd tripled to left field, and Moyd scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.
Jase Seltzer earned the win on the mound for Central Mountain. The starter allowed two hits and three runs over two-and-a-third innings of work, striking out none and walking two. Isaiah Maldonado pitched four innings in relief.
Maldonado surrendered five hits and one run while, striking out four and walking one. Noah Farrell took the loss for DuBois as he went two innings, surrendering three runs on three hits, striking out five and walking two.
Central Mountain tallied 11 hits. Blake Walker and Lavelle were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs. Probst led Central Mountain with three hits in four at bats. Felix Oquendo collected two hits in three at bats.
Central Mountain turned one double play in the game and the Wildcats were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Moyd had the most chances in the field with nine.
Wingard provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led DuBois with two runs batted in. The No. 3 hitter in the lineup went 2 for 3.
Central Mountain is at State College on Wendesday.
