Bucktail wins thriller in bottom of the seventh in softball action

Instead of panicking down by two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Bucktail kept its composure and played softball the best it knows how to.

And, that resulted in an exciting victory.

Bucktail scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win in walk-off fashion at home against Moshannon Valley, 10-9, on Monday afternoon.

Bucktail tallied 14 hits in the win, led by Kendall Wagner and Makenna Stone, who both went 4 for 5. Wagner led Bucktail with four RBIs.

Lola Englishw ent 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Angel Kmetz went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Eva Sockman had two RBIs to go with a single.

In the circle, Carrie Ditty and Sockman combined in the seven-inning contest. Ditty threw five innings, striking out four while Sockman relieved her for two innings of work.

Bucktail led 3-1 after the first inning before Moshannon Valley scored three in the top of the second for a brief 4-3 lead. The Bucks scored twice in the bottom of the second to lead 5-4 and increased the lead to 7-4 after four innings. But Moshannon Valley would score five runs in the next three innings to lead 9-7 heading to the bottom of the seventh.
