Shore boys tennis secures No. 2 seed in District 4 team tournament

TIM WEIGHT/For the Express A Jersey Shore boys tennis player prepares to return a shot during a match against Central Mountain earlier this season. The Bulldogs drew the No. 2 seed for the District 4 Class AA team tournament.
On Wednesday morning, the bracket for the District 4 Team Tournament was released for boys tennis. Of the ten-team field, Jersey Shore drew one of its top seeds, landing at No. 2 behind top-seeded Lewisburg.
That seeding granted the Bulldogs a first-round bye as they’ll start their run in quarters. Their quarterfinal opponent will be between No. 7 seed South Williamsport (-) and No. 10 Towanda, with that first round matchup set for Thursday and the quarterfinals currently being slated to take place on Friday.
If it wins on Saturday, Jersey Shore will face the winner of No. 3 Central Columbia and No. 6 Wellsboro in the semifinals, currently slated for next Tuesday. A victory there would put it in the title game next Thursday.
On the other side of the bracket, the remaining teams featured in this year’s district tournament are top-seed Lewisburg, No. 4 seed Danville – who just beat the Green Dragons, No. 5 Loyalsock, No. 8 Montoursville and No. 9 Selinsgrove.
Through the 2025 season, Jersey Shore (13-1), has had seven matchups against the tournament’s field, compiling a 6-1 record within them.
Its lone loss occurred on the road against top-seeded Lewisburg over a month ago, where the Green Dragons edged out the Bulldogs, 3-2. In the remaining matches, Shore defeated No. 6 Wellsboro, No. 7 South Williamsport, No. 8 Montoursville twice and No. 9 Selinsgrove twice.
Entering the tourney, Jersey Shore is riding an 11-match win streak. All action is set to begin on Friday and conclude next Thursday.
