Shore all-stars rally past Lewisburg, 7-6, in 8 inning game in junior softball

TURBOTVILLE — Devin Stroble scored the go-ahead run on an infield groundout in the top of the eighth inning and Amelia Thomas won pitching in relief as the Jersey Shore Area All-Stars rallied past Lewisburg, 7-6 in 8 innings Wednesday to open the Section 3 Little League Junior Softball tournament at the Moser Complex.

Shore, which has trailed every game this postseason, was down 6-1 before scoring three runs in the fourth inning and tying it with two in the sixth.

Thomas struck out 10 in 6 1/3 innings. She and Payton Pennycoff scored on Haley Kitner’s double in the fourth inning. Kitner also singled home Annabelle Fry to tie the game in the sixth.

Lewisburg, down 1-0 after Pennycoff singled home Thomas in the top of the first, scored three times in the bottom of the first before adding two in the second and another in the third.

The Shore All-Stars have players from the Shore, Nippenose, Hepburn-Lycoming, and South Williamsport Little Leagues.

Shore advanced to sectionals by sweeping Williamsport in District 12, while Lewisburg swept Milton in District 13. Districts 15 and 24 didn’t enter teams in sectionals.
