Big Ten releases PSU football schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK – The Penn State football team has a 2020 football schedule.

On Wednesday, the Big Ten conference released schedules for all of its football teams as well as medical protocol for fall sports. The news release did not say if fans would be permitted at football games. The non-conference games have been canceled.

Penn State’s season begins at Beaver Stadium on Sept. 5 with a game against Northwestern. That will be followed by a pair of road games – at Indiana (Sept. 12) and at Michigan (Sept. 19). On Sept. 26, the Nittany Lions return home for a game with Michigan State. On Oct. 3, Penn State visits Rutgers. Both Michigan State and Rutgers have had to shut down practices after several players tested positive for COVID-19. On Oct. 17, Penn State hosts Maryland. Then, on Oct. 24 Iowa visits Beaver Stadium. Penn State travels to Nebraska for game on Halloween (Oct. 31). Rival Ohio State visits Beaver Stadium on Nov. 7. The Nittany Lions close out the season at Illinois on Nov. 21.

Penn State’s bye weeks are Oct. 10 and Nov. 14.

The Big Ten Championship game is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Big Ten teams can begin practice on Friday, Aug. 7.
