CMMS get a new kiln
PHOTO PROVIDED 6th grade Jack-O-Lanterns are shown.
Central Mountain Middle School got a new kiln this year. It was purchased because the old kiln was in very bad shape, and was constantly in need of repairs. The kiln that was originally in the building was pretty old and had to be replaced. Then CMMS got a kiln from one of the buildings in the district that closed down, but that was also very old and not very energy efficient.
All students at CMMS who have art have benefitted from the new kiln. Both Mrs. McCann and Mrs. Wilson have had the opportunity to do clay projects with their classes this year. So far Mrs. McCann has done coil pots with eighth grade, jack-o-lanterns with 6th grade, and coil turtles with 5th grade. She has some ornaments planned that will decorate the CMMS Christmas tree once it goes up.
CMMS students will continue to benefit from the new kiln as the year progresses. Mrs. McCann and Mrs. Wilson both have many other creative clay projects planned
