Ms. Michelle’s Multi-Disabilities classroom and the 5th grade students at CMMS started a Lunch Buddy program. Over one hundred 5th graders volunteered to be a part of this program! 5th grade students join the Multi-disabilities class at lunch to get to know each other. Students get to eat at designated tables with one of the MDS students.
It helps students who participate practice kindness to everyone. It helps the MDS students get to know the 5th graders. It helps increase socialization skills while building empathy for differently abled individuals.
This happens every day in the cafeteria during 5th grade lunch at three specific round tables. There is enough room for four or five other 5th graders to join the MDS students for lunch.
The MDS students really enjoy the lunch program! They look forward to meeting new students and getting to know other people.
