In November, Avery Banfill, grandchild of Nancy and the late Tom Banfill, of Lock Haven, took fourth place at the Class 3A Florida High School Athletic Association State Golf Championship. She is the child of Sean and Amy Banfill. Banfill’s team, representing Parrish Community High School, won the state championship for the first time in program history at the Mission Resort and Club at Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla., on Nov. 11 and 12. The girls overcame cold weather and a 12-stroke deficit to secure the come-back victory, winning by two strokes on the second day of competition. In October, the team earned the title of District Champions for the third consecutive year, with Banfill contributing a score of 67 strokes. She repeated her strong performance on Nov. 4, finishing with 78 strokes.
