Mitchells to observe 75th wedding anniversary
Laura (Wellendorf) and Garrett Mitchell will celebrate 75 years of marriage on Jan. 25.
They were married during a break from their time in the military in 1946.
Both raised in South Williamsport, they lived in State College while Garrett finished his electrical engineering degree at Penn State and Laura worked as a nurse at Bellefonte hospital. They moved to Lock Haven where Garrett worked for the NYPenn and then Hammermill papermill for over 30 years and Laura was a nurse at the Lock Have hospital.
They lived on South Hillview Street during most of their married life. They now live at the village at Penn State.
They have one son David Mitchell and his wife Lisa; three grandchildren, Kate Boobar and husband Matt, Dan Mitchell and wife Sandra, and Kevin Mitchell. Their great-grandchildren are Garrett and Cooper Mitchell and Sierra and Aspen Boobar.
