AVIS -- Robert (Bob) and Lois Conrad, of Avis, celebrated 64 years of marriage on Jan. 9, 2024. Bob and Lois are both from out of the area, Cresson and Portage, Pa. They met at a dance where upon initial introduction, Lois explained to Bob that she does not date anyone with facial hair. Bob ran home where he proceeded to remove said facial hair and returned to the dance shortly after. They have been inseparable ever since. Bob and Lois have four children, Jeffrey Conrad and wife Laurie, of Forest Hill, Md., Cathrine (Conrad) and husband, Keith Schreppel, of Rauchtown, of Jersey Shore, Vickie (Conrad) and husband Michael Allen, of Nippenose Valley, and Lisa (Conrad) and husband Barry Enders, of Oriole; 10 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren altogether. Piper Industries brought them to this area back in 1960. Lois was a homemaker and also an avid antique collector where she also buys and sells in several consignment shops. Conrad’s Septic Service was established in 1968 and he is still actively working his business today.
