Jean and Paul Dotterer, of Mill Hall, Pa., recently observed their 75th wedding Anniversary.

Jean’s youth was spent in Centre County, where she lived with her family on a farm in Zion, Pa. Paul was from a farming family as well; growing up near Lamar on a farm which is still owned by family members.

They met 75 years ago in December of 1948 while roller skating at Hecla Park in Mingoville. Their first date was on New Year’s Eve. Jean accepted Paul’s offer because he had a car! Although she vowed to never marry a dairy farmer, they married ten months later in October 1949.

They are the founders of two businesses. Paul Dotterer and Sons Dairy Farm, (now Dotterer Dairy) and Dotterer Farm Equipment. Both of them worked very hard; Jean was often in charge of milking the cows, as well as gardening, and household chores. Their legacy lives on as the third and fourth generations have continued the dairy farm.

They are the parents of six children: Kathy Ebeling, Larry (Nancy), and John (Susan), all of Mill Hall; David, of New York City; James, of Robbinsville, N.C.; and Patty (John) Rendleman, of Tampa, Fla. They have been blessed with eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The anniversary was celebrated with a reception at Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church Fellowship Hall, attended by 100 guests.

Starting at $3.69/week.
