Sugar Valley Lions Club celebrates Easter

LOGANTON -- The Sugar Valley Lions Club was busy recently with a full day of Easter celebration events at their Clubhouse for the youngest and older residents of Sugar Valley.
The morning consisted of an Easter Brunch with the Easter Bunny immediately followed by an egg hunt for children up to 12 years of age. In addition to the treats that filled the eggs from the egg hunt, each child was given a "special" egg that gave them a prize of either a stuffed animal or a filled Easter basket.
All within the same day, the Lions were busy preparing a full-fare Easter meal to be served later in the day for the Senior Citizens of Sugar Valley. The meal was free, and afterward entertainment was provided by singer Heather Olsen. Olson sang a variety of Patriotic and Gospel songs, as well as other songs in her famous tribute style of Patsy Cline.
Several National Honor Society students from the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School, as well as a student from Central Mountain High School who volunteered to help, came to assist the Lions with the events -- from greeting those as they arrived at the event, helping with children wanting pictures taken with the Easter Bunny, assisting with the crowd outside hunting eggs and helping with serving and cleanup at the Senior Citizens meal.
Students helping with the events from Sugar Valley Rural Charter School were Sidney Meixel, Gavin Morris, Madisyn Garcia, Ewan Morris, Emma Downing, Aine Rossman; and from Central Mountain High School Allison Vonada.
