Local ALA members attend conference in Hershey

HERSHEY -- Local American Legion Auxiliary members attended the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Pennsylvania's Spring Conference in Hershey, Pa.

ALA members from throughout Pennsylvania were in attendance and also attended ALA Department of Pennsylvania's President, Tracie Seiders' testimonial dinner. Rita Kisko, Juniors Chairperson of the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Pennsylvania, conducted Juniors' meetings and elections for the American Legion Auxiliary Juniors. Congratulations are in order for two local Junior Members of Mumper Shawley ALA Unit #893- Milesburg. Kendall Smith was elected Chaplain and Paisley Smith was elected Sgt. of Arms.

These American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) members are part of the largest Veterans Service Organization (VSO) in the world. Their mission being in the spirit of "Service, Not Self," the mission of the ALA is to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve and have served, by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, they advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.

They are part of the Department of Pennsylvania's American Legion Auxiliary, which is the largest American Legion Auxiliary in the world.

The next ALA's Centre, Lycoming and Clinton Council meeting will be hosted by Houtz-Meyers-Rose ALA Unit #867-Pleasant Gap, on June 11.

All American Legion Auxiliary members are invited to attend.
