There were a total of 40 students who participated in the Americanism Essay Competition from Lock Haven Catholic School. The title of the essay was "What does America the Beautiful mean to me (regarding veterans and our military)?"
Each and every child that participated received a personalized "Certificate of Participation!"
Winners from Lock Haven Catholic School included:
-- In Class I, which consists of third and fourth grades, 1st place Sydney Walker, 2nd place Adalyn Caruso and 3rd place Jackson Shadle.
-- In Class II, which consists of fifth and sixth grades, 1st place Isabella Bravoco, 2nd place Owen Wuytack and 3rd place Finnegan McElroy.
-- In Class III, which consists of seventh and eighth grades, 1st place Maren Davis, 2nd place MeiLin Talbot and 3rd place Melanie Freeman.
First place winner in Class I, Sydney Walker, and Class II winner, Isabella Bravoco, also placed first at the Centre, Lycoming and Clinton Counties level and will be judged on levels throughout our state and possibly could go on to the National level.
Students are pictured with American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Unit #131 of Lock Haven's Auxiliary President, Doris Schenck; ALA Unit's Secretary Susan Miller and Americanism Chairperson, Carol Wert Walker, who also is currently serving as Department of Pennsylvania's American Legion Auxiliary's District President for Centre, Lycoming and Clinton Counties.
Awards and certificates were presented at an assembly at Lock Haven Catholic School.
