The celebration of Flag Day is distinctively an Elks-originated holiday. In 1908, the Elks National Office decreed that all Elks Lodges celebrate June 14 as Flag Day. It was not until 1949 that U.S. President Truman declared June 14, as Flag Day, and a national holiday. And so, the Bellefonte Elks Lodge Officers, joined by the Bellefonte VFW, Pleasant Gap Legion, Bellefonte Community Band, Boy Scout Troop 35 and Cub Scout Pack 330 celebrated Flag Day 2025 with a fitting ceremony at Talleyrand Park in Bellefonte.
