LOCK HAVEN — The Giosue Carducci Lodge of the Sons and Daughters of Italy, Lock Haven, has continuously provided local graduates assistance in their continued education through a number of scholarships over the years.
Recently, those individuals — both current college students and graduates — have chosen to share the impact the Sons’ scholarship program had on them.
This week, Sofia Dressler, a Central Mountain High School alumnus, chose to speak.
Dressler is currently attending the University of Notre Dame where she’s studying chemical engineering with a minor in bioengineering.
“After college, my plans are to attend grad school for biochemistry,” Dressler said. She noted that many of her favorite local activities at Notre Dame are to visit the local cat cafe and study with her friends.
She emphasized the impact the scholarship from the Sons and Daughters of Italy had on her education.
“I am incredibly thankful for the financial support provided by the Sons and Daughters of Italy, which has allowed me to pursue my degree,” she said.
