Centre Hall Fire Company donates to HOPE Fund

CENTRE HALL -- Centre Hall Fire Company held a first Friday of the month Bingo from October through May to raise funds for their department and also to help local groups and organizations. The fire company was holding the Bingos not only to help their own fire department with funds, but as a way to give back to the community who supports it.

Each month the fire company chose a "bonus organization" to help during the Bingos, allowing that organization to set up basket raffle tables. The fire company would also provide $2 from every Early Bird game packet to the bonus organization, ensuring the fire company's commitment to helping non-profits in the Penns Valley and surrounding area.

The May 1 Bingo would be the last one before the summer break, and the HOPE Fund of Penns Valley was chosen as the bonus organization. HOPE stands for Helping Other People Everyday. The HOPE Fund helps Penns Valley alumni during crisis situations, whether that be providing funds to help during a serious illness, or perhaps giving funds when a person or family has suffered a house fire or something equally catastrophic.

The May Bingo raised $1,220 for the HOPE Fund.

CHFC is taking a summer break from their monthly Bingo, but will be beginning them again in October.
