Robb Elementary School Principal Tyer Barth was guest speaker at Aug. 6's Lock Haven Kiwanis Club meeting. Barth spoke about a variety of topics including its Snack Cart, a partnership with The New Love Center which provides free snacks and drinks to any student; the improvement in math and English Language Arts (ELA) that have been recorded in the most recent school years; the challenges public education faces, including parental involvement, engagement with students and more; and the positives and negatives of the use of technology in the classroom. He noted the district's one-on-one Chromebook education system, which allows customized learning per student, has proven to be beneficial overall. He explained each student in the elementary grade level takes an assessment test at the start of the year, with the system the district uses tailoring exercises to each student, based on their needs.
