Sons scholarship recipient discusses its impact in college and beyond

LOCK HAVEN -- The Giosue Carducci Lodge of the Sons and Daughters of Italy, Lock Haven, has continuously provided local graduates assistance in their continued education through a number of scholarships over the years.
Recently, those individuals -- both current college students and graduates -- have chosen to share the impact the Sons' scholarship program had on them.
Dominic Maneval is currently a specialty clinical pharmacist for Geisinger Specialty Pharmacy and a member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy.
After graduating from Jersey Shore Area High School in 2018, Maneval was provided scholarships from both the local lodge and the Pennsylvania Sons and Daughters of Italy.
He utilized these scholarships to earn a doctor of pharmacy and masters of business administration degrees from Wilkes University in 2024.
"I owe my lodge membership to my late grandfather and great-uncle, Sam and Joe Pecchia, who were very proud of their Italian culture," Maneval said. "I'd like to thank the Sons and Daughters of Italy for their belief and support. Their generosity greatly assisted me in pursuing my goals and starting my career."
