Sons scholarship recipient discusses impact on college

LOCK HAVEN -- The Giosue Carducci Lodge of the Sons and Daughters of Italy, Lock Haven, has continuously provided local graduates assistance in their continued education through a number of scholarships over the years.

Recently, those individuals -- both current college students and graduates -- have chosen to share the impact the Sons' scholarship program had on them.

Gianna Dressler, a senior at Susquehanna University, is double majoring in biology and secondary education.

"In my free time I work with elementary school students at an after-school program in Shikellamy. Here, I help coordinate science activities, help with homework and make connections with students," Gianna said.

Gianna explained the Sons and Daughters of Italy scholarship was what allowed her to pursue her degree and engage in educational opportunities she wouldn't find anywhere else.
