Kathryn Ashley Brandt, daughter of Dr. John and Karen Brandt of Lock Haven, graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia on June 2. In late June, Dr. Brandt began her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Brandt is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association and the American Medal Association. She was awarded the PCOM Foundation Scholarship from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011.

A 2007 graduate of Swarthmore College, Dr. Brandt obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in Psycology. Upon graduation, Brandt was employed as a Safety Assessment Intern for AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals. In 2008, she worked as a research technician in the Regulatory Systems Neuroscience Department at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

Dr. Brandt graduated from Central Mountain High School in 2003 as her class valdictorian. An active student athlete, Brandt continued her athletic career in basketball and softball while at Swarthmore College and conducted research in both the biology and psychology departments.

Dr. Brandt is the third generation of doctors in her family. She is the grand daughter of the late Dr. John Brandt Sr. and Mary Lou Brandt of Lock Haven, and Dr. Albert and Sylvia Rocuskie of Hometown, Pa.
